Moving Still

Moving still with laurels.jpg

A grieving couple is estranged because of a loss of a child. The only problem is they still have one living who needs them.

We shot Moving Still for the 168 Project and received nominations for Best Actor and Best Original Score. We were challenged to base a script off of Luke 4:17-21

God truly showed up in this project as there were testimonies present in all aspects. The story itself was inspired by the Executive Producer's own experience with losing a child. We were floored with the amount of people that came together to volunteer for the project. When we found out we got nominations we threw up a Gofundme page and raised the exact amount needed. Our Executive Producer lost his job weeks before filming and God provided every need for his family. I ended up in the hospital due to complications of MS and was let go 1 week before the Premiere. But God gave me strength! We walked the red carpet only a block from the VMA's showcasing a powerful story and seeing our film premiere in Los Angeles.

The Leavenator

35 year old Jonie hasn't had good luck in a really long time so she hires 20 year old Star to be her life coach but when Star gets her an interview at a marketing firm she finds herself in over her head.

This was the second film we made for the 168 film festival where we received nominations for best hair and make-up, best production design and best supporting actress (Nikki Miles).  I literally dreamed up these characters on night and ended up writing the script for this festival a year later. We are so grateful for everyone who was involved with this film. We had a bigger cast and crew so it was a huge learning experience for all of us. All in all I hope that you get a little inspired in your own life from this film.

(Currently in production)

Synopsis - Malachi is grieving after the murder of his older brother Michael and it drives him to seek out revenge. Will he take hold of the life he's been given or choose death? On his journey he will find out that he's not as alone as he once believed.

Background - After the murder of my brother in the summer of 2016, I was so touched by the stories my husband shared with me about growing up with his older brother, I wanted to find a way to capture the feelings of memory and grief by creating something that held hope and inspiration in the foreground.

The Watered Seed

(Short Film)

Synopsis - A successful woman wins an award and reminisces about the person who got her where she is today.

Background - My cousin and I decided to do this short film for the American Black Film Festival short film competition sponsored by McDonalds. The competition asked that we did something about community and service. We couldn't think of a better place to feature this film than the Felege Hiwyot Center which is an Urban Garden that teaches leadership development through farming started by my mother in law 13 years ago.
