My Brother's Keeper (Working Title)

Background - After the murder of my brother in law last summer I was so touched by the stories my husband told me about him and his older brother growing up. I wanted to find a way to capture the feelings of memory and grief and create something that held hope and inspiration in the foreground. We will be filming this short in May and I'm so excited about the team we've put together!

Synopsis - Malachi is grieving the murder of his older brother Michael and it drives him to seek out revenge. Will he take hold of the life he's been given or choose death? On his journey he will find out that he's not as alone as he once believed.

The Publicist (Working Title)

Background - Last year my amazing cousin and I got together to create a short for the American Black Film Festival. One of our cast members did such an amazing job it inspired an entire film of it's own! We will be shooting this film in June 2017 and we think this comedy will leave you laughing and hopefully willing to step out of your comfort zone and take a leap of faith in your own life!

Synopsis - Eric, an ex analyst, decides to step outside of his comfort zone and become a publicist for a neurotic up and coming actress after his fiance leaves him. His new job is full of so much drama that he joins a support group just for celebrity publicists. In a brash decision he tries to get his true love back but will rejection cause him to realize he's become the man he's always wanted to be all along?

The Leavenator

The Leavenator is a comedic short film that we produced for the 168 Film Festival. I dreamt up these characters a year in advance in a dream...literally but I wasn't able to write the script until a year later. This project was a step up from Moving Still in terms of production value. We had a larger cast, crew and location. It was definitely a learning experience for all of us. We were challenged to base a script off of the theme "work" and our scripture was Matthew 13:33

Jonie is 40 years old, stuck in life and desperately needs a change. She hires a sincere but young life coach in hopes to land her dream job. Instead of an interview they both get caught up in the corporate project of a lifetime and find their true calling in the process.

We shot Moving Still for the 168 Project and received nominations for Best Actor and Best Original Score. We were challenged to base a script off of Luke 4:17-21:

"..and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

  • God truly showed up in this project as there were testimonies present in all aspects.
  • The story itself was inspired by the Executive Producer's own experience with losing a child.
  • We were floored with the amount of people that came together to volunteer for the project.
  • When we found out we got nominations we threw up a gofundme page and raised the exact amount needed.
  • Our Executive Producer lost his job weeks before filming and God provided every need for his family.
  • I ended up in the hospital due to complications of MS and was let go 1 week before the Premiere. But God gave me strength!
  • We walked the red carpet only a block from the VMA's showcasing a powerful story and seeing our film premiere in Los Angeles.

A grieving couple is estranged because of a loss of a child. The only problem is they still have one living who needs them.
