Run Towards the Roar Series - Part three
Today is part three in the Run Towards the Roar series. I've been really excited about the feed back that I've been getting. It seems like a lot of people are resonating with this topic on how to face your fears and move past them.
Today I started out with a recap of part one and part two and then dove right into another awesome tactic for running towards the roar getting rid of fear and making moves towards your purpose.
Be alert or GET WOKE!
I talked about the importance of waking up to what's happening around us. The world doesn't talk about our enemy that is trying to distract us from our goals. I don't know about you but I find it freeing to know that the voice of fear is NOT my voice and I don't have to listen to it.
It's crazy how we can walk around with so many voices in our heads. But we must learn to determine which voice is ours, the enemy and which one is the Holy Spirit.
1. Redefine Failure
Did you know that you have a failsafe as you take chances towards your dreams?
Your failsafe is Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a]for those who are called according to his purpose.
So how can you redefine failure?
A few years ago I attended a conference called the Fail Fest and all of these entreprenuers talked about the millions of dollars that they raised and lost and raised again. I didn't even know that it was possible to do such things! One of the speakers talked about making sure that you fail forward.
What does it mean to fail forward?
Make sure you fail forward - you fail forward by making sure you stop and reflect and articulate that lesson.
For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in time of disaster and collapse.
- Fear is a story you tell yourself. It's just an emotion at the end of the day
- Joy makes you smile and hug everyone even if that person is grumpy.
- Love made Jesus ask God to forgive his killers.
- Courage makes you think you're super woman.
Successful people don't have comfort zones they jump in and out of. They live on the edge of their comfort zone and keep pushing it further. (Lisa Nichols)
I have a question for you...
What if fear was an indicator you were moving in the right direction? What if the lion roared louder the closer you were getting to your goals? Have you ever experienced that?
2. Shine Bright!
I think a lot of women are afraid to shine bright like a diamond. Diamonds are only allowed to be our best friends. We're taught to be humble and not excited about who you are. Real humility is knowing who you are in Christ and not being ashamed of letting Him shine through you. Isn't it funny if we are feeling ourselves we can be afraid of being judged? But when you see other amazing women you're like she's fabulous! It doesn't have to look like Beyoncé fabulous. It can be mother Theresa fabulous. She was the Beyoncé of missionary work! She's a beast. I read her book.
Be bold in letting Christ shine through you!!
- Mother Theresa turned her nuns habit into a Sari. Unheard of at the time.
- Rahab - Was bold in helping the Israelites and saved her family.
- Ruth- she was bold and followed God leaving behind what a woman should have done at the time. She left her people, the religion, the customs to follow God! She ended up in the line of Jesus like Maggie mentioned!
- Esther risked her life and went in front of the King and stood up to Hamadan and saves her people.
I mean think of the woman with the alabaster box. She went against all propriety for her Lord and savior.
- Commit so you can embrace new faith and healing habits
- Commit to a spiritual practice of worship all the time
- Embrace that it will be hard and it's okay because it's part of the process.
- Do it afraid
Why should your run towards the roar?
Do it for everyone else. Do it for the people that are hurting and need the love of God in their lives. Every step you take towards your purpose inspires someone else around you. Every time you let God shine through you by being obedient you can extend the good news to others.
When God puts something in your heart to do whether it’s a blog, a conference, a magazine, a song, a business the roars will come up in your life. But don’t be afraid.
Know this - when you are obedient to the Holy Spirit and moving forward in what God has called you to do. Don’t think that it’s the business or idea that you are chasing. You are really chasing after Christ. (turn the gift bag around).
He is the prize we are after. This journey is just us growing in Him, knowing him, cultivating a deeper relationship with our savior. Our passion is for Him as His passion is for us.
Have you ever wondered why the devil is likened to a lion and Jesus is called the Lion of Judah?
Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.
God will defend his people like a lion over its’ prey.
The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken who can but prophesy?
When the lioness goes out to hunt the lions stay with the cubs to protect them. When the lion is ready to protect his children - watch out now!
The devil is an imitator. He cannot destroy you unless you let him.
- I want to remind you that this lion is actually caged up. Christ already defeated sin and death. He already made you and me more than conquerors.
- You just have to walk it out
- You can do it. It's already part of who you are.
The first time I gave birth I was terrified. But God gave the child to me and somehow I knew how to do it. Trust that the Holy Spirit will help you give birth to your dreams.
What would you do if you weren’t afraid? How would you live your life? What choices would you make? How much faith would you invite into your life?
I urge you to run towards the roar!
I will be putting together this series as well as a simple worksheet you can use to identify the roars in your own life and take action to run towards them.
